When they ask you in their pitch if your are a high school or equivalency grad, an american citizen and or military just respond that you are a honors graduate not military and your a pakistani citizen and see how long it takes them to hang up! Graduation for instance cor Colarado tech is between 13 to 20 percent how is that for a career builder? Phoenix recently settled a class action suite for $67000000 for their deceptive practices meanwhile students many of them unable to pay off student loans are left dead men walking and the government left stiffed for the loans! This is the reality add in ashford and a list of others and you see where this program goes. Not to say there are not acceptable programs with serious student commitment but you have to make sure your in one that does deliver!
dambalahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08610898992829476007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787999482934202364.post-87283947606241787772013-09-19T16:54:13.485-04:002013-09-19T16:54:13.485-04:00Thanks, Mr. White. It was a pay structure that essentially equaled an extra $5000 to your salary for every 4 students you were suppose to enroll. So, 36 was $35,000 a year, 40 students was $40,000 a year. Just FYI, so the facts are clear. Career Colleges, per the Higher Education Act can't pay bonuses, or even Salaries for that matter. We were hourly, and our overtime was "donated" to the college to get the job done, ie, we weren't paid for our overtime.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787999482934202364.post-50517300472589758912013-09-11T03:39:38.362-04:002013-09-11T03:39:38.362-04:00Basicly what it boils down to people is that most ...Basicly what it boils down to people is that most of these negative comments are coming from people who recieved their degrees the traditional way, which is fine and great, more power to you. I think there is just a little respentment now that you can get your degree from the comfort of your own home without the parking fees. Times have changed, and so what if you can now better yourselves and your career without having to go on a campus. It must be something of value as a ton of major universities also have the online process, or are they crap as well. Penn State, Rutgers, USC and many more now have online degree opportunities and I would hardly call these schools uncredible. The degree mill quote is silly. Ok so they have given out alot of degrees. Yes becasue they cater to people who cannot afford to go to a 3-5 day a week campus. It was basicley started for people who already have jobs and cant afford the time to go to school. Quit knocking people trying to better themselves. UOP has people teaching who are already in the related fields. They are not just teachers as most traditional schools have. If I want to learn something from somebody ,I would rather have them be employeed in a place where I eventually want to be. Again, people are just mad becasue they have now made it easier to go to school. Im sorry this format wasnt there for you when you went to school, but thats like being mad at somebody for using a cell phone. The whole world is basicly online and its not slowing down. Get used to it. We can not all go to Harvard. If somebody has a degree from the University of Washington is it a piece of crap becasue its not a Harvard degree. Think about it.

Read about EDMC Professors and Students Speak: How Lobbyists and Goldman Sachs Ruined For-Profit EducationEDMC Professors and Students Speak: How Lobbyists and Goldman Sachs Ruined For-Profit Educationhttp://www.insideuop.com/node/21488noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787999482934202364.post-41814985557830397792013-09-05T20:25:46.094-04:002013-09-05T20:25:46.094-04:00Dear Sir,

In the year 2005 I, a believer on the advancement of people through education, signed with a local for profit college, EVERET COLLEGE, and after 8 years of aggravation and false promises, I concluded that only the so call “College” has advance while us, the people whose only sin has been to believe that one can better himself through education, only have a tremendous debt which obviously will not be able to pay during our life time to show for. At the beginning with the promises that upon completion there were good paying jobs, this institution offer their own financing at outrageous interest and later, help to obtain government lending.
I have previous experience in nursing but, wanted to become a Register Cardiac Sonographer, in pursuing that dream, went to Everest College where was told that the prerequisite was an Associate Degree as a Cardiovascular Technician, did that an then signed for the Cardiac Sonography program upon completion.
I have finished all requirements and have taken and obtain all the require licenses, not due to then but by hiring outside tutors. All the promises made of great salaries, employment after completing the program have been false, worse yet, many institution hospitals and private institutions are not willing to hire graduates from this “college” because it is considered a substandard not credited school. Today, I am settled with a 50,000.00 dollars debt in a job that has nothing to do with my Degree.
I have a worthless degree which basically makes me unemployable in the field that I studied since the so call “College” has no state validation.
The institution who lend the funds to study, Sallie Mae, have imposed payments schedules which actually takes fifty percent of my paycheck so, I work as an EKG Technician, I am left with very little to solve my everyday payments and comprises and fine myself working to pay Sallie Mae.
I have looked into continuing my education at local State College but, due to the fact that the “so call College” I attended is not accredited, my credits are not transferable, I will have to start all over again probably ending with a debt over 100,000.00 dollars still making 12 to 13 dollars an hour.

I write this letter as form of complain hoping that this state will finally advocate for us instead of the corporation whose only interest is to fill their pockets with absolutely no concern to the damage they are creating, with the changes made by Congress to the “Bankruptcy Law” making students loans non-dischargeable, the downward spiral of the student’s loan abuse will continue. These schools must be regulated, fine whenever false promises are made, and be obligated that cannot open doors until full accreditation is obtain.
I have repeatedly requested copy of my transcript, professor credentials and course description with no avail, my petition has not been answer situation which does not allow me to at least try to enroll in a reputable institution
I know that for my case, it is too late, but please let’s stop the damage these schools are doing to our fellow Floridians.
I am organizing some past students of this institution and plan in a near future file a Class Law Suit hoping that this action will stop these institutions from keeping creating more damage while getting richer every day. We have launched a complaint before the Florida Better Business Bureau regarding this matter but, have not received any follow ups from them

RegardsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787999482934202364.post-73397722708390790252013-07-17T04:41:56.751-04:002013-07-17T04:41:56.751-04:00Studying your blog post is much like reading throu...Studying your blog post is much like reading through the sunday paper. But I think painting all for-profit schools with the broad brush of being "trash" is not fair or accurate.

Many for-profit career schools do a fantastic job of getting people into career tracks, many of whom are very badly served by the state college and not-for-profit system.

Also most for-profits are not huge, publicly traded corporations like Apollo Group (U of Pheonix), they are run by people who genuinely wish to help students get a leg up in life.Shane Sparksnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787999482934202364.post-6760367701592462662013-03-18T02:33:23.004-04:002013-03-18T02:33:23.004-04:00Is this a joke? We're hearing from the same contrarians who, early on, railed against the push for computers in schools.

Computers, as SMART Boards, cannot be linked to improved grades for students, but would anybody argue today that computers should be banished to the ash heap of history because they failed to increase student performance in core subjects?

The biggest challenge with computers AND SMART Boards (distinguished from generic IWBs) is end-user competence. Many people (teachers among them) do little more than use computers for e-mail. That is hardly justification for depriving others from the dynamic benefits of computer technology in schools.

In the not-too-distant future teachers without a grasp of SMART Boards will not be employable, just as today it would be ludicrous to hire a teacher with no computer experience.

Just because Captain doesn't know who is going to maintain them doesn't mean SMART Boards need the level of maintenance he/she asserts. They're nearly indestructible, which is not something that can be said about most electronic devices. They've experienced bullet holes in the L.A. USD and continued to operate.

Too bad for Quebec that someone went the cheap route, but sooner or later they will need to catch up.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787999482934202364.post-54734016674119010072013-02-10T12:38:06.807-05:002013-02-10T12:38:06.807-05:00No, you my friends are narrow minded. Then I wondered, if there was a dance for both boys and girls and parents, would it become a sort of formal dance for children much too young to be thinking about dances in that way? Would the girls and boys perhaps want to dance with each other instead of with their parents? One solution, to me, is simply not to hold a father-daughter or "sweetheart" dance at all -- the custom seems completely antiquated to me. Instead, have a party for all the kids and all the parents.Jessy Randallhttp://coloradocollege.libguides.com/profile.php?uid=36650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8787999482934202364.post-53940114258174622132013-01-05T02:20:20.159-05:002013-01-05T02:20:20.159-05:00I agree, indeed this can create a dilemma, let as ...I agree, indeed this can create a dilemma, let as hope that parents can find a school that is acceptable to their aspirations and beliefs.
