And it is absolutely true that the government does not have the best intentions of the students or the teachers at heart. The Portuguese school system is very close to collapsing and indeed, most people do not like to relocate because it can mean that your wife works in Lisbon but you were assigned a position in Porto...or worse. <BR/><BR/>It is discouraging to many people that the Portuguese government wouldn't do everything possible to allow for students to create a dependable relationship with their teachers - but, indeed, it is nearly impossible in areas like Lisbon. <BR/><BR/>You should publish your findings from your time as Fulbrighter somewhere...nothing like a little bit of national humiliation to get the Portuguese government to react.
